North Amityville resident Richard Beltre, 30, was working as a seasonal UPS driver on Monday, Dec. 2, when he delivered a package to a home on Deer Park Avenue in Babylon, Suffolk County Police said.
Beltre proceeded to steal several packages that had been delivered to the same address by the United States Postal Service, according to police.
It is further alleged that Beltre also stole packages from a home on Siegel Boulevard in Babylon on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
In total, the stolen packages had a value of approximately $100.
The investigation into the stolen packages by Suffolk County Police and the UPS led investigators to Beltre, who was arrested at the UPS Customer Service facility on Smith Street in Farmingdale at approximately 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Beltre was taken into custody and charged with two counts of petit larceny. He was held overnight and expected to be released on bail from the First Precinct on Thursday, Dec. 5.
